Efficient TEOLED Based on Antibiotics Micro-Structures

 Prof. Ryu’s research group at Korea University reports the discovery of high-efficiency TEOLEDs(Top Emission Organic Light-emitting Diodes) through energy harvesting using antibiotic-based Micro-Structures. The study appears in the journal “Advanced Materials, IF 32.068” in July.

   

 Through controlling the properties of PEDOT:PSS, which is widely used as a conductive polymer, the research group amplified the efficiency of the photoelectric device by mixing Ampicillin(antibiotics) with PEDOT:PSS to enhance the optical properties.

   

 The researchers proved that adding Ampicillin Micro-Structures affected the photoluminescence caused by radiative energy transfer, electroluminescence by the injection of electrons and holes, and light scattering effect reduces photon loss.

   

 Prof. Ryu said that "We implemented high-efficiency devices through the fusion of antibiotics and photoelectric devices." He also said, "Not only can it reduce economic and time costs, but it is also expected to be applied to next-generation display production technologies in the future."
